How to Check the Confirmation Status of a Bitcoin Transaction

BitRef now has a built-in Bitcoin transaction analysis tool. Simply use the Check input field at the top of the website. This search engine allows you to search for Bitcoin addresses, transactions, and blocks from a single search bar. The check field is present on every page of our site, so you can quickly and easily explore the Bitcoin ecosystem, no matter where you are.

For Bitcoin transactions, BitRef helps you check the confirmation status and properties of each transaction, tracking its inputs and outputs in real time. Our transaction analyzer displays various attributes, such as the fee, size, weight, time, and more. For confirmed transactions, a section appears explaining in simple terms what is happening in the transaction.

For unconfirmed transactions, you can check whether all transaction ancestors have been confirmed. Additionally, all transaction descendants are analyzed, enabling us to calculate the effective fee rate — the actual fee rate that miners consider when deciding whether to include your transaction in the next block.

Based on the effective fee rate, we calculate another important metric: vMB from tip. This helps you predict whether the transaction will be included in the next block. If the value is under 1, it means your transaction is in the block currently being mined and will most likely be included. If the value is greater than 1, you may need to wait longer.

We aim to present only the most essential information, concealing overly technical details to avoid overwhelming users. Nevertheless, we provide more data than other tools, highlighting important details that may not be visible elsewhere, such as the vMB from tip and the quick overview.

If you're dealing with an unconfirmed transaction that has been stuck for a long time, you can use our Bitcoin Transaction Accelerator to expedite the confirmation process.
